Tips Menyembunyikan Semua Program Dari Start Menu. Sebenarnya pada kesempatan yang terdahulu, di sini, Tips dan Trik Komputer telah membahas tema yang satu ini yaitu dengan menggunakan fasilitas gpedit.msc. Masih dengan tema yang sama, pada kesempatan kali ini, kita akan menyembunyikan Semua Program dari Start Menu dengan menggunakan fasilitas regedit. Jika kiranya mungkin tips ini bermanfaat, silakan untuk mengikutinya berikut ini.

Langsung saja, langkah-langkahnya adalah sebagai berikut.

Pertama, jalankan registry editor dengan cara klik [Start] >> [Run] >> kemudian ketikkan “regedit” (tanpa tanda kutip) dilanjutkan dengan menekan OK atau ENTER hingga akan muncul jendela regedit.

Kedua,

jika kita menghendaki semua program tidak muncul hanya username yang sedang kita gunakan untuk login, masuklah pada

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\

Jika kita menghendaki semua program tidak muncul pada semua username, maka masuklah pada

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\

Ketiga, pada folder policies buatlah DWORD Value baru dengan cara klik kanan pada folder policies kemudian pilih [New] > [DWORD Value] kemudian namai DWORD Value tersebut dengan “NoStartMenuMoreProgram”

Keempat, klik double pada DWORD value yang baru saja kita buat tersebut kemudian isi value datanya dengan angka 1, seperti screenshot di bawah ini.

Kelima, klik OK dan restart komputer

Untuk mengembalikan seperti semula, ubahlah value datanya menjadi 0 atau hapus saja DWORD Value tersebut.

Memfungsikan Fitur Hibernate Windows XP : Sebenarnya Windows XP sudah menyediakan berbagai fitur dan fasilitas yang semuanya ditujukan untuk “memanjakan” para penggunanya, baik yang berkaitan dengan kemudahan, kenyamanan maupun keamanan dalam berkomputer. Namun karena satu dan lain hal, misalnya ketidaktahun akan fungsi-fungsi fitur tersebut akhirnya banyak fitur yang sepertinya menjadi “mubazir” belaka. Salah satu fitur yang mungkin “lepas dari pantauan kita” karena mungkin ketidaktahuan akan fungsinya adalah fitur Hibernate Windows XP. Simak selengkapnya mengenai fungsi dan juga cara mengaktifkan Hibernate berikut ini bersama Tips dan Trik Komputer.

Hibernate adalah salah satu fitur yang dimiliki Windows XP yang memungkinkan data yang tersimpan pada memori dipindahkan ke harddisk pada saat computer dimatikan. Dan ketika komputer dihidupkan lagi maka data tersebut akan segera “dipindahkan” lagi ke memori. Dengan “teknologi” seperti itu maka proses shutdown dan booting menjadi lebih cepat karena komputer tidak perlu mengambil data dari harddisk tetapi langsung dari memori.

Selain itu, dengan Hibernate, komputer akan dapat menampilkan aplikasi terakhir yang sedang berjalan ketika computer dimatikan. Misalkan, sebelum komputer dimatikan, kita masih menjalankan MS Word dan MS Excel maka ketika komputer tersebut dinyalakan lagi, kita akan mendapati kedua aplikasi tersebut masih berjalan seperti sebelum komputer dimatikan. Dengan kelebihan tersebut, kiranya fungsi Hibernate ini cocok untuk para pengguna laptop yang “mobile” yang mungkin sering mematikan dan menghidupkan laptop di tempat-tempat yang berbeda-beda.

Untuk mengaktifkan fitur Hibernate ini adalah dengan cara sebagai berikut.

Pertama, klik kanan pada Desktop kemudian pilih Properties hingga muncul jendela “Display Properties”.

Kedua, kemudian klik tab “Screensaver” dan kemudian klik button “Power” yang berada di bagian kanan bawah hingga muncul jendela “Power Option Properties”.

Ketiga, kemudian klik tab “Hibernate” kemudian centangi pada “Enable Hibernate”.

Keempat, kemudian klik Apply atau OK.

Kelima, ketika hendak mengaktifkan, klik START kemudian klik Turn Off Computer maka akan muncul pilihan button “Hibernate” dan kemudian klik button Hibernate tersebut.

Keenam, jika tidak muncul pilihan “Hibernate”, tekan dan tahan tombol shift di keyboard hingga Standby akan berubah menjadi Hibernate.

Menyembunyikan Start Menu (khusus Win95/97)

Anda bisa menghilangkan menu START yang terdapat pada kiri bawah desktop anda. Caranya:
1. Tekanlah tombol Ctrl dan Esc.
2. Tekan Alt dan -
3. Pilih Close.
(catatan: tombol - adalah tombol - yang terdapat pada keyboard bagian kanan).

Mengganti icon dari kursor

Ternyata kursor mouse pun bisa kita gunakan sebagai icon sehingga kita mempunyai variasi icon yang banyak. Caranya, klik kanan pada shortcut yang ingin diganti icon-nya dan pilih Properties. Pindah ke tab Shortcut dan klik tombol Change Icon. Lalu cari ke directory yang terdapat kursor Anda. Kalau Anda meng-install MS Plus!, Anda bisa menggunakan kursor yang terletak di sana.

Pesan di awal start up

Tambahkan tulisan berikut pada file autoexec.bat :

Maka tiap kali komputer anda di-boot, akan muncul pesan tersebut. Tulisan yang diawali dengan Echo bisa anda ganti dengan pesan anda sendiri. So kamu bisa ngusilin teman yang masih awam dalam komputer dengan tulisan-tulisan aneh, seperti "Komputer ini terserang virus DIE HARD.." Pasti temen anda bingung.

Shortcut untuk Shutdown

Untuk mempercepat shutdown Anda bisa membuat shortcut pada desktop. Caranya :
1. Klik kanan area kosong pada desktop lalu pilih New - Shortcut.
2. Pada command line ketikkan c:\windows\rundll32.exe user, exitwindows.
3. Klik next dan beri nama shortcut tersebut.
4. Terakhir klik Finish.

Shortcut untuk Restart

Untuk mempercepat restart Anda bisa membuat shortcut pada desktop.
Cara 1 :
1. Klik kanan area kosong pada desktop, pilih New - Shortcut.
2. Pada command line ketikkan C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe,exitwindowsexec.
3. Klik next dan beri nama shortcut tersebut.
4. Terakhir klik Finish.

Cara 2 :
1. Jalankan Notepad.
2. Ketikkan @exit.
3. Simpan dengan nama restart.bat di C:\
4. Jalankan windows explorer, klik kanan dan seret file tersebut ke desktop.
5. Pada menu yang muncul pilih Create Shortcut(s) Here.
6. Klik kanan shortcut tersebut, pilih Properties.
7. Pindah ke tab Programs, beri tanda check pada Close on Exit.
8. Klik tombol Advanced.
9. Tandai pilhan MS-DOS Mode, serta hapus pilihan Warn before entering MS-DOS mode.
10. Klik OK, dan OK lagi untuk menutup kotak dialog Properties.

Shortcut untuk Log Off

Untuk mempercepat log off Anda bisa membuat shortcut pada desktop. Caranya :
1. Klik kanan area kosong pada desktop lalu pilih New - Shortcut.
2. Pada command line ketikkan C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 0
3. Klik next dan beri nama shortcut tersebut.
4. Terakhir klik Finish.

Menyembunyikan menu Find pada Start Menu

Jika Anda meng-enable setting berikut, maka Find yang terdapat pada Start Menu akan hilang. Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Value Name: NoFind Data Type: DWORD Value Data: (0 = tampilkan, 1 = sembunyikan)

Menyembunyikan menu Document pada Start Menu

Menampilkan kode kesalahan DOS

Sering bingung atau sering mengalami kesalahan dalam mengeksekusi perintah eksternal DOS ? (misalnya chkdsk, xcopy, attrib, dll) ? Kini jangan lagi, karena Anda dapat mengetahui kesalahan apa yang Anda lakukan. Caranya pada MS-DOS Prompt ketikkan COMMAND /Z. Perintah ini tidak berlaku untuk perintah internal seperti copy, dir, rename, dll. Untuk kembali ke modus MS-DOS "biasa" Anda cukup menuliskan perintah EXIT COMMAND.

Alternatif lain memanggil MS-DOS prompt

Selain lewat menu Start/Program/MS-DOS Prompt, ada cara lain untuk masuk menuju MS-DOS Prompt. Caranya, masuk ke menu Start/Run dan ketikkan COMMAND lalu klik OK.

Parameter tersembunyi bagi DIR

Ternyata perintah DIR mempunyai sebuah parameter yang tersembunyi, yaitu DIR /Z. Jika Anda mengetikkan perintah tersebut maka DOS akan menampilkan file dengan menyembunyikan nama panjang yang biasanya muncul di sebelah kanan. Jika anda mengetikkan DIR /B maka yang akan tampil hanya nama panjangnya saja. Sementara DIR /Z/B akan menampilkan nama pendeknya saja.

Buka sekaligus beberapa windows

Jangan biarkan diri Anda menunggu terlalu lama untuk loading gambar yang tidak Anda perlukan. Untuk mengefektifkan akses website Anda bisa membuka sekaligus beberapa windows. Tapi jangan terlalu banyak (untuk beberapa komputer bisa menyebabkan hang). Untuk membuka jendela baru, dari menu File pilih New lalu pilih Window. Atau gunakan shortcut Ctrl + N.

Efektifkan download Anda

Anda sering download file/software dari internet ? Bila ya maka sebaiknya Anda menggunakan software bantu untuk download seperti GoZilla. Dengan Go!Zilla hasil download Anda lebih terjamin dan yang bagus Anda Anda dapat melakukan pause dan resume.

Menghapus URL history

Tidak ingin ada orang lain yang mengetahui situs apa saja yang barusan Anda buka ? Hapus daftar situs yang terletak pada location bar browser Anda. Bila Anda memakai Netscape, dari menu Edit pilih Preference. Pindah ke Category Navigator. Untuk menghapus daftar situs, klik button dg tulisan Clear Location Bar.

Untuk Internet Explorer 4.x, klik menu View, pilih Internet Options. Pada tab General, klik pada button Clear History.

Untuk Internet Explorer 5.x, klik menu Tools, pilih Internet Options. Selanjutnya sama dg IE 4.x.

Menghapus cache pd browser

Untuk lebih amannya bila Anda main di warnet, Anda perlu menghapus cache browser.
Untuk Netscape Navigator 4.06 :
1. Pilih menu Edit - Preferences.
2. Pada bagian Category pilih Advanced - Cache.
3. Klik pada Clear Memory Cache & Clear Disk Cache. (Versi lainnya silahkan cari pd menu yg terdapat Preferences.)

Untuk Internet Explorer 4 :
1. Pilih menu View - Internet Options.
2. Pada tab General & bagian Temporary Internet Files klik Deletes Files. Untuk versi lainnya silahkan cari pd menu yg terdapat Internet Options).

Easter Egg Team Windows 98 #1

1. Klik dua kali pada jam yang terdapat pada taskbar (pojok kanan bawah).
2. Pindah ke tab Time Zone.
3. Tekan tombol Ctrl + Alt + Del sambil menekan tombol kiri mouse.
4. Arahkan pointer mouse ke peta dunia dari Memphis (Egypt) ke Memphis (Tennese).
5. Lepaskan tombol mouse.
6. Tekan sekali tombol mouse dan geser pointer mouse sekali lagi dari Memphis (Tennese) ke Redmond (negara bagian Washington).

Jika Anda melakukan langkah-langkah di atas dengan benar maka pada layar monitor Anda akan muncul nama-nama Team Windows 98.

Easter Egg Team Windows 98 #2

Easter egg yang satu ini akan menampilkan image dan tulisan para pembuat Windows 98. Gambar-gambar tersebut bisa Anda gunakan sebagai penghias deskop Anda atau sekedar buat koleksi. Caranya sebagai berikut :

1. Buka Internet Explorer.
2. Pada kolom Address ketikkan "res://membg.dll/nama file" (tanpa tanda petik).
3. Tekan enter.

Setelah mengisi nama file dan menekan enter maka akan tampil foto/gambar tersembunyi yang dimasukkan oleh para pembuat Windows 98. Adapun daftar gambar/nama filenya adalah :

Setting tersembunyi pada IE 5.x

Internet Explorer versi 5.x mempunyai beberapa setting tersembunyi, yang dapat Anda ganti lewat Regitry Editor. Untuk itu buka Registry Editor dan masuklah ke subkey HKey_Current_User\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel. Tabel di bawah ini menunjukkan Name dan Data yang harus Anda isikan beserta keterangannya.

Mengurutkan file pada Windows Explorer

Untuk mempermudah Anda dalam menemukan file yang terdapat pada Windows Explorer, Anda dapat melakukan pengurutan (sort order). Caranya dari menu View, pilih Arrange Icon. Untuk mengurutkan berdasarkan nama pilih By Name. Pilih by Size untuk mengurutkan berdasarkan ukuran file.

Selain cara tersebut ada cara lain yang lebih cepat, yaitu dengan mengklik tulisan Name, Size, Type atau Modified pada Column Title. Klik sekali untuk mengurutkan secara ascending (dari A sampai Z), klik sekali lagi untuk mengurutkan secara descending (dari Z sampai A).

Menyesuaikan ukuran kolom

Tekan Ctrl dan + secara bersamaan. + adalah yang terdapat pada keypad (keyboard bagian kanan). Tips ini berlaku juga pada kotak dialog Find dan Registry Editor.

Menyesuaikan target pada Windows Explorer

Saat Anda mengklik icon Windows Explorer pada Start - Programs maka secara default yang terbuka adalah drive C. Sebenarnya Anda bisa saja mengganti target tersebut, misalkan menjadi C:\Data\MS Word, maka yang harus Anda lakukan adalah mengklik kanan icon shortcut tersebut lalu pindah ke tab Shortcut. Pada bagian Target gantilah menjadi seperti berikut :

"c:\windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\Data\MS Word"

Jika Anda ingin membuka folder tersebut sebagai root maka tambahkan /root, sehingga perintahnya menjadi sebagai berikut :

"c:\windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,/root,C:\Data\MS Word"

Sekarang jika Anda mengklik shortcut tersebut maka yang akan dibuka oleh Windows Explorer adalah folder C:\Data\MS Word

Dalam beberapa kesempatan saya sering melihat seseorang mengetikkan kata kunci di mesin pencari google yang berhubungan dengan cara chatting di yahoo messenger. Saya juga mengetahui bahwa mereka sering kali tidak mendapatkan info atau penjelasan yang diinginkan dan malah kesasar ke artikel saya yang berkaitan dengan yahoo messenger tetapi bukan merupakan info untuk pemula. Untuk itulah saya berfikiran bahwa perlu kiranya saya menuliskan sedikit pengantar mengenai cara-cara chatting di yahoo messenger kepada para pemula chat.

Langkah pertama yang anda para pemula lakukan untuk memasuki dunia yahoo messenger adalah adanya koneksi internet yang memungkinkan anda memasuki dunia maya. Tidak mungkin anda mampu chatting jika tidak memiliki fasilitas koneksi internet ini.

Kedua. Anda juga memerlukan software yahoo messenger yang terinstal dengan baik dalam komputer anda. Atau kalau anda melakukan koneksi lewat warung internet atau warnet anda harus mencari software ini apakah sudah terinstal atau belum. Saya kira sangat jarang warnet yang tidak menyediakan software ini pada layanan mereka. Kalau kebingungan silahkan download software chat client yahoo messenger di sini. Dalam link tersebut terdapat beberapa versi yahoo messenger, versi lama (6 atau 7), versi 8 dan versi 9. Ada juga versi vista. Saya sarankan pilih yang versi 8.

Mencetak MS Word dalam urutan terbalik

Anda sering menncetak suatu dokumen Word dan Anda harus selalu membalik urutan halaman ? Hal ini tentu terasa membosankan. Sebenarnya Anda bisa mencetak dokumen Word dengan uratan terbalik (dari nomor halaman besar ke kecil) sehingga Anda tidak perlu harus membalik urutannya. Caranya dari menu Tools/Option/Print tandai Reverse Print Order lalu klik OK.

Salah satu hal yang paling menyebalkan pada saat kita beroperasi di Internet adalah banyaknya spam di e-mail yang kita terima. Bagi anda yang aktif di berbagai mailing list & berkomunikasi menggunakan e-mail di Internet maka tingkat penerimaan spam dapat mencapai lebih dari 20% dari e-mail yang masuk. Berikut ini adalah beberapa tip praktis yang dapat digunakan untuk menghalau e-mail spam menggunakan software-software yang gratis dapat di ambil dari Internet. Bagi pengguna Windows,

• Software favorit yang dapat digunakan adalah secretmaker yang dapat di ambil dari http://www.secretmaker.com di bagian download atau kadang suka ada juga di http://www.download.com. Cara menginstalasi secretmaker seperti cara menginstalasi software di Windows biasa & sangat sederhana. Yang perlu kita perhatikan adalah pada saat mengoperasikan ada beberapa proteksi yang disiapkan oleh secretmaker, yaitu spam & worm, spyware & intruder, profiling & tracking, dan terakhir betray & evidence protection. Jika mungkin semua fasilitas proteksi yang ada di aktifkan karena akan sangat membantu dalam memproteksi computer anda bukan hanya dari spam, tapi juga dari berbagai pop-up pada saat kita melakukan browsing di Internet. Saran saya, jangan mengoperasikan computer di Internet tanpa secretmaker.

• Tool yang tidak kalah menarik-nya yang khusus di buat untuk menangani spam di e-mail adalah spamfu http://spamfu.net. SpamFu pada dasarnya sebuah proxy server untuk e-mail yang akan menganalisa e-mail yang masuk menggunakan spamassassin yang sering digunakan di Linux. Instalasi spamfu sama dengan instalasi software di Windows lainnya. Yang agak membingungkan adalah konfigurasi software client seperti Eudora, Outlook Express dll. Yang penting perlu di set adalah username menjadi username:mesin-pop-isp, sedang pop server yang tadinya harusnya mesin-pop-isp menjadi localhost / 127.0.0.1.

• Bagi anda yang betul-betul paranoid dengan virus melalui e-mail, sebaiknya menggunakan software-software client yang text mode. Saya di Windows menggunakan PC-pine yang dapat di ambil dari http://www.washinton.edu/pine/ baik utk Windows maupun untuk Linux.

Bagi anda yang menggunakan Linux, maka teknik pertahanan yang dapat dilakukan dapat lebih kompleks lagi. Memang sebagian besar software pertahanan yang di perlukan dapat di ambil gratis di Internet.

• Pertahanan spam yang tersedia di Red Hat Fedora Core 4 adalah spamassassin. Software spamassassin dapat langsung di install pada saat instalasi Red Hat Fedora Core 4. Memang tidak dapat langsung digunakan, kita perlu mengubah file /etc/procmailrc. Contoh isi file procmailrc dapat di ambil di http://spamassassin.apache.org/full/3.0.x/dist/procmailrc.example.

• Bagi anda yang cukup ahli mengkonfigurasi Server Linux. Ada baiknya membaca-baca MailScanner yang dapat di integrasikan dengan Postfix SMTP Server, spamassassin dan clamav. Sehingga semua mail yang mengandung virus & spam akan di buang terlebih dulu. Teknik ini sebaiknya digunakan di tingkat ISP. MailScanner dapat di ambil gratis di http://www.mailscanner.info atau di http://www.sng.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mailscanner/ . Sedang Anti virus clamav dapat di ambil gratis di http://www.clamav.net. Bagi pengguna Windows yang ingin menggunakan clamav di sarankan mengambil versi Windows-nya di http://www.clamwin.com
